My name is Helga, and I am honoured that you are reading my story.

I grew up in Hungary, Europe and in my early teen years, my Canadian uncle gave me an old Minolta camera. Right away, I was captivated by this little machine and how it could capture the beauty of the world around me. I was so excited to figure out all the ins and outs of this camera and learn about light and composition. After graduating from high school, I enrolled in a two year photography course and my career was on its way! I also learned manual black and white manual lab processing, and that was my favourite! I loved the exciting smell of chemicals in the darkroom, and everything that was involved with it.

Leaving my family behind at the age of 21, I packed my bags and immigrated to the land of opportunity… Canada! I fell in love with this nation as soon as I landed. Once I got myself settled, I started working for different photography studios. Right away, I was learning about digital photography and the various techniques used in this country; very different compared to what I had been taught back home, but I must admit, I like the Canadian style much better!

I officially opened my business in Edmonton in 2007. Over time, my understanding of photography technique has grown, both from my experience working for a variety of clients, as well as regularly educating myself through photography workshops and courses. I had the pleasure of learning from Kelly Brown at Creative Live, from Amy McDaniel of Dewdrops Photography, Nicole Smith, Ana Brandt, and Alli Peck from Glow Portraits. I have built up an extensive array of quality photography tools (lights, lenses, cameras, software, and props) to make the most of any occasion. I have also successfully hosted multiple Newborn photography workshops in both Hungary and the United Kingdom.

In 2009 I met the love of my life and we got married at a beautiful beach of Costa Rica. After a few years continuing on operating my business in Edmonton, and giving birth to two beautiful children, our family decided to move back to Sudbury, Ontario in 2015 where my husband had originally grown up.

Since then...

• my dream boutique studio was built
• with newborn photography, I have become safety-certified, qualified, and the only accredited newborn photographer in Northern Ontario, by APNPI.
• I serve as the affiliated volunteer photographer at Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS) for the Sudbury region; we provide timeless images to parents who are experiencing infant loss.
• Have been involved with other local community organizations and projects, such as Butterfly Wings Perinatal Bereavement Services and also Angels of Hope Against Human Trafficking

Ultimately, whether in my own Studio H in Sudbury, Ontario, or on location, I look forward to capturing the portraiture needs of my clients. I hope to see and hear your story. Thanks again for stopping by!
